Making his premier appearance in the CARS Pro Late Model Tour, Tanner Carter is set to cross multiple firsts off his list this weekend in Greenville, South Carolina.
Tanner Carter has never touched the surface of Greenville-Pickens Speedway prior to this weekend. Lucky for him, he's spent many nights watching his aunt Tasha Porter Kummer drive her #35 Late Model around the half mile track. Regardless, Tanner has his work cut out to learn how to navigate Greenville before Saturday night's #Puryear225.
Formed in the fall of 2014 by owner Jack McNelly, the CARS Tour was built out of the remnants of the former Pro Cup Series. The CARS sanctioning body, continuing a desire to create a viable option for quality pavement racing throughout the Carolinas and beyond, formed the dual division CARS Tour. Featuring both Pro Late Models and Late Model Stock cars competing on the same night at the same track, the CARS Tour is the first series of its kind to host two premier divisions under the same banner, at the same track, and as part of the same event.
Although a few years have passed, this is not TH Motorsports' first take with the CARS Tour.
The team formerly raced their Super Late Model with the series for many races just a few seasons ago. However, this will be their first start with the newly assembled Pro Late Model portion of the show. Tanner believes that going up against the CARS Tour competition won't be much different than what he's raced against three races into his season.
I think going up against the CARS Tour regulars isn't really much of a change. It's just another race that will help me improve as a driver.

The biggest obstacle that Carter will face is adapting to such a flat surface.
This track was really hard to familiarize because I've never been on a track this flat before.
Fortunately for Tanner, he was able to turn a few laps Thursday at Greenville-Pickens Speedway prior to the start of CARS Tour practice on Friday afternoon.
Saturday's race can be found on CARS Tour TV at 7:30pm Eastern. CARS Tour TV is the home for your favorite CARS Tour events throughout the year. With complete coverage of events form green to checkered, and even afterwards, CARS Tour TV is the one-stop-shop for all things related to the CARS Tour.
